The All Blues Rugby Club is seeking a Head Coach to lead our newly restructured Division 1 (D1) program for the 2025–2026 competitive season, running from September 2025 through USA Rugby Nationals in late May/early June 2026 (exact dates TBD). This is a unique opportunity for a visionary and experienced coach to take charge of a legacy program and help shape its future at the highest levels of domestic competition.
About the Club
Founded in 1978, the All Blues are one of the most storied and successful women’s rugby clubs in the United States, with 15 national championships across 15s and 7s formats. In 2022, the All Blues claimed the WPL National Championship, and our Division 2 (D2) team won the NCRFU Championship, finishing the year competing at USA Rugby Nationals.
The Club is home to over 60 dedicated athletes, ranging from elite-level players with national team experience to those newer to the game. We maintain a strong culture of inclusion, accountability, and excellence, supporting both competitive and developmental pathways.
Following the recent departure of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) season, the All Blues are relaunching a competitive D1 program to participate in the hybrid D1/D2 NCRFU league beginning this year. While our development-focused D3 team will continue to foster emerging talent, the D1 squad will serve as the flagship competitive team for the club.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the D1 program with a strategic, long-term vision aligned with All Blues values, culture, and competitive goals.
Develop and execute high-performance training plans, including team strategy, unit systems (forwards/backs), and individual skill development.
Run twice-weekly training sessions (Tuesday and Thursday evenings in the East Bay) with purposeful structure, intensity, and attention to athlete welfare.
Select and manage match-day rosters, ensuring readiness for all home and away D1 league matches, playoffs, and USA Rugby Nationals.
Collaborate with D3 and WER coaches to build a player development pipeline and ensure alignment between programs.
Provide consistent feedback and mentorship to players through video analysis, evaluations, and Individual Development Plans (IDPs) if requested.
Create and uphold a positive, accountable team culture that prioritizes inclusivity, growth, and competitive excellence.
Communicate regularly with the Club’s Executive Board regarding team needs, planning, and operations.
Support the enforcement of club policies and contribute to a professional environment across all levels of the club.
Schedule Overview
Practices: Tuesdays and Thursdays in the East Bay, CA
Fall Season: Includes at least one competitive tournament in Austin, TX (November 2025) and either the start of the hybrid league (schedule TBD) or friendlies with other D1 level teams.
Spring Season: Participation in NCRFU D1/D2 hybrid league (schedule TBD) with a goal of qualifying for USA Rugby Nationals in late spring 2026
Qualifications
Previous playing and coaching experience is required; prior experience coaching women’s teams is a plus.
Must hold or be willing to obtain a USA Rugby Level 2 Coaching Certification (or equivalent) and complete all SafeSport requirements.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; able to motivate, manage, and mentor athletes at a high level.
Committed to fostering both competitive success and player development.
Able to attend all practices, matches, and key events throughout the season.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; visa assistance is not available.
