All Blues Rugby is seeking a Head Coach for our Division 2 (D2) season beginning in January through USA Rugby Nationals in late May/early June 2025 (exact dates TBD). The ideal candidate is committed to working with committed, senior-level female athletes to build and maintain a championship-level team.
The Team
Founded in 1978, the All Blues Rugby Club is one of the top women’s rugby clubs in the country. The Club has won a combined total of 15 National Championships in both 15s and 7s rugby, most recently winning the WPL National Championship in 2022. In addition, that same year our D2 team won the NCRFU championship, the regional competition, and then competed at USA Nationals for the National Championship. The All Blues club consists of over 60 women dedicated to the Club and rugby. The Club welcomes athletes of all levels; current players range from elite to novice in experience. The Club currently participates in a competitive WPL season, a competitive and developmental 7s season, and a developmental Division II season. Several players regularly compete on the Women’s National Team. The emphasis of the spring season is to compete in the Northern California Rugby Football Union (NCRFU) league with the aim to secure a D2 National Championship.
Key Responsibilities
Representing and protecting the All Blues Rugby values, culture, and reputation at all times as determined and communicated by the Club’s Executive Board.
Develop and implement game strategies for all league and non-league matches for Division 2 side.
Attending all home and away matches for D2 season, post-season, and Nationals (late May/early June).
Organize and run all official practices for the Division 2 side
Determine rosters for the Division 2 side.
Coordinate and communicate with Team-selected captains of Division 2 side
Providing effective feedback to individuals and the team for maximal player and team performance and development.
Assist with selection and mentorship of Division 2 assistant coaching staff.
Treat all members of the All Blues community with respect, including, but not limited to, current and former team members, fans, and members of the coaching staff.
Make long-term decisions with the team's best interests in mind including working with the WPL/WER coaches as necessary for development of players.
Assistance upholding and enforcing Club policies set by the Club’s Executive Board.
Schedule
Practices are held twice weekly on Tuesday and Thursday evenings in East Bay, California. Match schedule for the spring is not yet available. There will be approximately five away and five home matches this spring in addition to the National Championship in a to-be-determined location.
Qualifications and Additional Information
Previous playing and coaching experience is required; specific experience coaching women is preferred but not necessary. All Blues Rugby Club require the completion and maintenance of a 200 Level Coaching certification or a comparable level of coaching certification, including all Safe Sport required courses. Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience. This is not a full-time position. Unfortunately, the Club is unable to provide visa assistance. Travel expenses to away matches will be paid by the Club.
